Three years into the Neighbourhood Plan system, having been an Independent Examiner registered with the Neighbourhood Plans Independent Examiner Referral Service (NPIERS) from the outset, I have (along with other Examiners keen to continue such work) been subject to audit and assessment at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) headquarters in Parliament Square, London, by the eminent Robin Purchas QC, John Romanski of Planning Aid England and Brian Smith of the RICS. I have been encouraged by an upturn in enquiries and appointments since (particularly through NPIERS) for those Forums keen to progress their Neighbourhood Plans. I'm looking forward to a busy year ahead and the prospects of undertaking a RICS certified Expert Witness course.
